A little easy to damage slightly, but worth it – super comfortable!!
I got this mat for doing my physical therapy exercises on my hardwood floor and have used it about maybe 6 or 7 times so far, a few on a carpet when I took it on vacation to a home with carpets, and rolled it back up like 3 or 4 times. When rolling it up while wearing a bracelet I've damaged the bottom side by the material getting caught in a few places on my bracelet, but when you stand on it in hiking boots it just leaves a mild, temporary indentation, which I've photographed but then goes away. It doesn't damage it to wear shoes on it as long as you're reasonably careful – I have major foot issues and need to wear my shoes all the time to prevent much worse chronic foot pain, and it's not been a problem to use my shoes in my physical therapy exercises like lying on my back with my knees up and my feet flat on the matt. The only thing that won't go away is if you rip/tear the material, and I do tend to be hard on my stuff so mine has a number of small rips in it now because of things like the bracelet and not being careful enough with it… It doesn't look like it has that much give with my full over 200lb body weight standing on it in hiking boots but I squeezed it with my finger so you can see how much give it has. The indentation stays in the foam for a little over a minute although most of it bounces back immediately after you stop putting pressure on that part of the mat. It's actually really comfortable for laying on my back to do my physical therapy on my entire hip/pelvis area that gets so sore so easily, so much better than traditional exercise mats! It has good give and is just exactly what I was hoping for in a comfortable exercise mat! plus the purple is such a pretty color and makes me feel happy to see in my house. You can't really fold it but you can roll it back up into it's original size quite easily and the carrying velcro strap works well on repeated use 😉 It's not hard to roll it back up small enough to fit in the velcro. Hopefully these pictures help give you an idea! I love this mat a lot and don't care if it rips a little easily… if it wears out too fast I'll just buy a second one of these. I think it's exactly what I wanted for physical therapy. More comfortable even than the exam/exercise tables at my physical therapist's office!

    Perfect For My Routine

    I am retired military, so exercise has always been a part of my daily routine. Since the pandemic I have had to adjust, which is hard because the gym has the equipment I have become accustomed to. I didn’t realize how different it was working out there as when I started to work out at home on my hard wood floors (no carpet anywhere). I thought it would be easy but the military exercise mat is entirely too thin and was making my tailbone hurt tremendously, so I had to give up my sit-ups and some other ab exercises. This kind of threw a wrench into my routine and I could start feeling my motivation go away. I decided to take a look on Amazon for a thicker mat. I should have done this long ago because I found this one I’m writing about. It’s the shape of any typical exercise Matt except it’s 1” thick. It appears to be made of a type of foam (not bothering to look at the description right now). When I pulled it out I thought I was going to sink in making sit-ups even harder but it’s firm but not hard. I like it better than what is at the gym. Durability will be hard to determine until I’ve had it a while but I’m definitely excited to start back up on my exercises.
    I recommend this mat if you have hard wood floors, bad back, bad knees, etc.
    I thought I read some negative reviews about mats this thick because of yoga and balance but I beg to differ. If balancing is part of your exercise routine, then a mat which makes balance harder is exactly what you want. Exercise is supposed to be challenging and you need to work harder to see a difference. If that isn’t your goal or if balance is a medical issue, this may not be the right mat for you. Something you may not think about is I have chronic foot pain and this mat makes it less painful for me to stand or jump.
    For me, this mat is perfect.

    I bought this yoga mat three years ago. It is lightweight and easy to store. It is super comfortable because it is so thick. I needed a squishy yoga mat, as I am larger and didn't want to hurt my knees on the ground. There is nothing wrong with my mat, but I would buy another one if necessary. I use it outside or inside. It was worth the purchase price. The mat is really stretchy, which is a downside when I'm trying to do splits and things like that. Sometimes my foot will get caught and the mat will move instead of my foot sliding over the top. Even with that slight flaw, I wouldn't want another type of yoga mat.
