Smells bad otherwise would give 5 stars

Nothing available locally to me similar to this. For the price, they are great. The metal collars slide well on my barbell. The extra holes on the 5lb plate make it easy to grab or hold when using them for stretches also.

I implore anyone thinking about buying these weight plates to consider alternatives. I was excited about getting these weight plates because they were encased in rubber; however, as others have mentioned in their reviews, the smell is intolerable. I am convinced that there is toxic material in the rubber because I have experienced headaches and irritation in the back of my throat from breathing these fumes. They emit a strong cigarette smell that is intolerable, but more importantly, unhealthy. I set up a home gym in one of my bedrooms, and each day, for a week, I opened the window and ran the fan to air the room out. That did not improve the strong odor. STAY AWAY from these weight plates. As I am writing this review, I have a both a headache and irritation in my throat.

Great weight plates. Would have given 5 stars but the weights had a greasy residue that smelled like menthol cigarettes.

Solid plates for a good price, but they reek of cigarettes. I don’t know if new plates are supposed to smell like this but it’s really strong. Even wiping them down with clorox wipes still don’t get rid of the smell.

Horrible smell. The previous descriptions of cigarette smell/probably toxic fumes that induce headaches are spot on. The weight itself if fine, but good luck using it with the nasty smell. Here we are, two full months later, and the smell hasn’t dissipated. I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.
